IPBC (3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate) is highly effective against fungi and has been used in the production of plastics processed at lower temperatures, such as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, and rubber. It is generally available in powder or liquid form. However, due to its instability at high temperatures and tendency to discolor upon decomposition, its range of applications is limited.
Physical and Chemical Properties:
This product is sparingly soluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as propylene glycol (25.2 g/100 g at 25°C) and ethanol (34.5 g/100 g at 25°C). It is stable within a pH range of 4–6 and is compatible with almost all surfactants.
Performance:
This product is a new anti-dandruff, anti-itching, antibacterial, and preservative agent. To help address the dandruff and itch relief challenges that have plagued the personal care industry for several years, our company, through relentless efforts, has finally developed IPBC. When used alone or in combination with glycyrrhizin, it demonstrates significantly better efficacy for dandruff and itch relief than currently widely used agents such as glycyrrhizin, ZPT, and OCT, while maintaining a low cost. Additionally, this product is non-irritating at the recommended usage concentration (≤0.1%).

IPBC used alone: 0.1%–0.4%.
When used in combination with Ganbaosu: Ganbaosu 0.2%–0.4%, IPBC 0.05%–0.1%.
